Can I log into Dakota without a passkey?

No. A passkey is required to log in to your Dakota account.

For more information on setting up and managing your passkey, please see our Understanding Passkeys Guide.

How does Dakota store private keys?

Dakota wallets are non-custodial, which means you always control your funds—Dakota cannot access them without your active involvement.

Your private key is securely split into two encrypted shards (a 2-of-2 scheme). One shard is encrypted and stored by you, while the other is held by Dakota in a way that can only be accessed using your PIN or passkey.

For additional safety, Dakota offers a backup and recovery option that lets you export your raw private keys at any time. You can access this feature by logging into the platform at dakota.xyz/security.
